October 2nd Results / Writeup
After being rained out for the season finale at Sunset Speedway, and also rained out the following weekend at Peterborough Speedway, the Holdaway Motorsports team decided to head back down to Peterborough Speedway this past saturday night for one last chance to get the car fine tuned for next weekends Autumn Colours Classic 75 lap feature.
The team was fairly happy with the car in practice, as they tried different tire combinations and a few changes to the setup trying to find as much speed as possible. Taylor would start 5th in the opening heat race, and as the field got single file early on in the race, he began to work his way past the 4th place car when the 2 cars made contact and knocked Taylor back a spot as the top 3 cars began to pull away. One lap later he was able to get around the 4th place car and began to reel in the leaders, but ran out of laps and ended up finishing 4th.
For the second 10 lap heat race, Taylor would start in the 3rd spot. Coming to the green flag the leader of the race spun his tires and fish tailed down the entire straightaway before finally spinning out right infront of Taylor in turn 1. He was able to miss the spinning car, as 2 cars behind him piled into the mess. After a breif caution period Taylor restarted on the outside of the front row and was able to get a good jump and take the lead on lap 2. He would come under attack from 2nd place in the closing laps, but didnt let the pressure get to him as he picked up another checkered flag heat race win.
After the dice roll to determine the invert for the feature race starting order, the 41 team found themselves as the polesitter for the 25 lap feature. Coming to the green Taylor got a good jump and led the first 3 laps before the 2nd place car got position on him going into turn 3 and moving Taylor up to the high groove. With no grip on the outside lane, 2nd place was able to get by and brought 2 cars with him, knocking Taylor back to 4th. Each time he would begin to catch the 3rd place car, they would catch lapped traffic and the gap would grow by a few car lengths. The race would go caution free, and Taylor would end up finishing in 4th place.
Congrats to the 10X of Gord Shepherd for the feature win!
